About Me

Hello! I'm Victoria.  Here is my story.
I love to create...anything and everything.  For most of my life, I painted, sculpted and lost myself in this creative world that was all my own and I loved every single second of it.  Then college happened. (We all know what happens in college). Then marriage and kids.  I lost that little crazy imaginative girl.  Although she was still there, desperately trying to get out, I forgot about her with all of the other distractions life throws at you.

You know life never goes the way you think it is going to go.  One day I found myself single with two amazing little girls and a pretty empty house.  I had two choices: be bitter and angry or forgive and move on.  I realized the only way I ever knew how to move on was to create.  The lost little girl inside me said "Hello, Old Friend...let us rediscover each other again."  That was the best thing I ever did for myself.  Rediscovering that creative little girl.

After I put myself together, I needed to find an outlet to channel my craziness (I mean creativeness).  I had a very little budget and a house that needed to become a home.  Then I discovered this whole new world of blogging.  These amazingly creative women inspired me to pick myself up and start using my imagination again. They literally changed my life.  They reminded me that I could be creative and make a beautiful and feminine home with old vintage furniture and pieces.  I took my two kids and went to every flea market I could find.  The girls and I were driving to different places so Mommy could pick up furniture she found on Craigslist.  By the way, Craigslist is the best thing since white bread white paint.  Speaking of white paint, I bought four gallons of white paint and painted my entire house.  It was the best form of therapy (and cheaper too).

Ok, enough babbling.  This is about creating a beautiful, light and feminine home with lots of love - all on a very small budget.  With a can of paint and some imagination, you can create a whole new space.  I believe that as women, we can and should share inspirations and stories.  I want to be that neurotic friend who tells you:

"DO IT! Of course you can build your own farm table.  You want to rip out your front yard so you can have a rose garden you always wanted? Absolutely! Let's do it!"

  10. Hi,

I love the pics on your site. I saw a beautiful jewelled champagne coloured wedding dress. I really want to buy one like it for my vow renewal next year. Can you tell me where you found it?

    Thanks Aisha

    1. Hi Aisha, I believe the dress is from Marchesa 2014 bridal collection. Good Luck!

  11. Although you & I are decades apart, our lives have such astonishing parallels. I smiled when I saw your Waterhouse poster of Circe---I made-over a large armoire featuring that work. I'm an artist and author and bought my (dream) farm by myself and have been doing it over one piece at a time. :) Although I have a shoestring budget I manage to make elegant Euro-inspired decor pieces. Like yourself, no Prince Charming is needed here and I say that at age 65. :) Your work is simply drop-dead gorgeous and I salute you for all you do to create a lyrically beautiful home and world for yourself and your girls. ( I raised six children alone, I get it.) Love the pix of your beautiful girls and yourself. Sincere fond wishes to you and please keep creating beautiful things. Warmly, Susi Franco
